Oman Pakistan Friendly Veterans Hockey Series won by Pakistan Veterans Club

KARACHI: 28 February 23 (News Leaks) Pakistan Veterans Hockey Club won the Oman Pakistan Friendly Veterans Hockey Series, Pakistan won the three test match series by 1-0, the last match of the series played at Sultan Qaboos Hockey Complex was tied 2-2. Pakistan’s forward Wasif Raza and Uzair Ahmed scored goals, the host team had a lead of two goals to one until the last minute, but in the last minute of the match, Wasif Raza scored on a good pass from Olympian Sameer Hussain, the captain of Pakistan. The match was equalized by scoring a goal, the first match of the series between the two teams was tied 2-2 while in the second match Pakistan veterans defeated Oman by five goals.

In the last match, President of Oman Hockey Federation Marwan was the chief guest, Pakistan’s chief de mission Khawaja Khawar, Olympian Islahuddin and captain Olympian Sameer Hussain received the series winner’s trophy from the chief guest, Sumair Saleem of Pakistan was the best player of the series and Oman’s Saeed Al-Nusri was declared the best goalkeeper while Muhammad Mukhtar was the top scorer with two goals.

The friendly series matches were played on February 23, 25 and 27 at the Sultan Qaboos Hockey Complex, Muscat. The team of Pakistan Veterans Hockey Club will return home on the 2nd of March.
